Frequently Asked Questions

What should my fundraising goal be?

Challenge yourself! $150 is the minimum commitment to participate but feel free to set your own goal. Raising $500 would mean you would be able to sponsor one family through our Sophia Support program, and makes an incredible impact on lessening the stress and burdens faced with a childhood cancer diagnosis and related expenses.

Another idea? Set a goal number of runs you will do during the Ski-a-thon and ask for people to pledge or donate X amount per run! Think you can do 60 runs throughout the day? Ask your supporters to pledge $1 per run you complete!

What if I don’t raise $150?

We kindly ask you to make your own tax-deductible donation to meet the minimum fundraising amount of $150. An all-day ski pass at Nashoba is valued at $150 which helped us arrive at the minimum fundraising amount.

How do I fundraise?

Fundraising is easy! We will help you create your profile on Zeffy and all you need to do is share your link with friends and family. Social media is an excellent way to reach your general network and you can email or text the link directly to friends and family. We will provide you information and graphics on the work Sophia’s Fund does for the childhood cancer community so that you will be able to let people know exactly where their tax-deductible donation will go.

Looking to collect donations in person? Use this sheet to track your donor’s information and contribution amount. In addition to the online link, donations can be accepted via cash or check made out to Sophia’s Fund Inc..

What level of ski experience do I need?

All levels are welcome! This Ski-a-thon will let you challenge yourself for your own personal goals. It is a fun-filled day for beginners and experts alike.

How will my number of runs be tracked?

Participants will be asked to use their favorite ski app to log their time and number of runs. If you don’t currently have a ski app on your phone, consider downloading Ski Tracks. At 5pm or once you have finished skiing, all participants will be asked to check-in with our Sophia Fund tent to report their information.

Do I need to ski all day?

Skiing will open at 9am and close at 5pm. You can choose to ski for any portion of this time and take breaks as needed!

What will winners receive at the award ceremony?

You will be given a medal and some Sophia’s swag in addition to being recognized on our social media site. Awards for:

  • Top Fundraiser: Whichever individual raises the most money for Sophia’s Fund

  • Most Donors: Whichever individual had the most number of supporters

  • Most runs: The man and woman  with the most number of runs completed throughout the whole day will receive this award.
